Craps: Fortune at the roll of dice

Craps is a gambling game played with two dice. It is popular in casinos and also among army men. Craps is said to date back to the Crusades and evolved in France from where it came to New Orleans. The current popularity of the game begins from there. In craps the players bet against the house on the outcome of the rolls of the dice.

Casinos have a special craps table . The craps table is managed by four employees. The boxman handles the chips. The two base dealers stand on either side of the table and handle the bets. The stickman announces the results and also handles the bets at the end of the table.

Craps rules are somewhat complicated. The dice are rolled by the players in turns. On certain outcomes the same player, called shooter, continues to roll the dice. On other outcomes the next player becomes the shooter and rolls the dice. At each roll of the dice the players can make a wide variety of bets.

Some of the craps bets are as follows. The simpler bets are for specified outcomes of each roll. For example “Yo” is for a roll of 11, “Ace-deuce” for a roll of 3 and “Craps” for a roll of 2, 3 or 12. The more complicated bets like “Fire Bet” and “Pass Line” are decided over a number of rolls.

Craps is a game of chance which offers reasonable odds for players. The house can be beaten with money management and skillful play. The objective is to bet whether the Shooter will roll a winning combination.

Ever played craps? Craps is different, in that unlike other games of chance, there is a secret to 'where' you bet your money. The best pass bets to make are Pass and Don't Pass, and Come and Don't Come, with or without Free Odds.
